Our Academy

How We Started

Careers in STEM are growing at exponential rates. According to Forbes, the top ten emerging jobs and occupations in demand are careers intersecting the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with the highest paying jobs being leadership roles in these fields. For years, the STEM arena has been dominated by a specific monoculture. Because of this, many people shy away from STEM careers due to the myth of difficulty and poor representation of diversity. Our vision was birthed from the necessity of different perspectives, identities, and cultures we want represented in the STEM field.

The initial vision was created by Achaia Ravizee in her post graduate program at Old Dominion University. As she was navigating through the world of academia, she noticed how many people in her field of study were exclusive to only one or two nationalities, which is a part of an even bigger problem in STEM. Her master thesis concept became the blueprint of our illustrious academy and we are paving the way for a new methodology of teaching STEM education. She created an institution where the focal point is not necessarily about what the students are learning but students’ way of learning and how it could be applied to real technological and global leadership topics. This thought ignited a flame which continues to burn in the hearts and minds of our faculty and staff as we continue to cultivate the Global Leadership and STEM scholars of tomorrow.

Why Choose Us

Beyond Boundaries Global Leadership and STEM Academy is one of the leading schools in the Hampton Roads area. Excellence is our mantra for every aspect of what we do for our community. We pride ourselves on delivering premier educational lessons with class and distinct brilliance and we are humbled to be making an impact and imprint on the next generation of scientists, engineers, leaders and mathematicians. With our unique teaching and study strategies in tandem with learning leadership skills, students will be equipped to dominate in whatever they embark upon in the STEM arena.

Before teaching commences, we will complete a consultation with the student and parent/guardian. This 60-minute session is a way our parents can see the faculty and staff, meet the principle, and view the classrooms and learning facility. After that, your child will take a learning assessment and questionnaire where we discover what type of learning style he/she has. Once we identify the child’s learning preference, we will then cater their entire curriculum towards the way they learn.

All in all, our unique appraisal and approach to the education field greatly enhances the atmosphere of learning for the student. We believe if a student has confidence in their abilities when they figure out how to approach learning they will see a positive representation in themselves because of their educational success in what they are learning. Our hope is to bring change to the culture of STEM by present positive representation, by introducing STEM early on in the child’s life and by helping students figure out the way they should approach learning STEM concepts. With this in mind, students will be equipped to handle any and all challenges that come their way with respect to STEM academia and global leadership.

Learning Assessment and Questionnaire

Our Learning Assessment and Questionnaire will eventually be given to first and second grade students. This evaluation will show our faculty the best learning strategies for your child, the next great scientist, engineer or global leader. First and second grade assessment tests will become available when the curriculum for those grades commence. We thank you for your interest in our program and we look forward to working with you soon!
